In 2000, LK jointly established the Tsinghua-LK High-tech Die-casting Technology Research Center with Tsinghua University and developed a large-ton magnesium alloy die casting machine, filling existing gaps in the domestic market. LK participated in the Guangdong Industry-University-Research Cooperation Project—Research and Development of Ultra-Miniature Injection Molding Machines (Zhongshan LK Machinery Co., Ltd., Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Shenzhen University). In 2012, LK worked with partners to implement the Project for Research and Development of Key Technologies for Ultra-high Speed Electric Injection Molding (Zhongshan LK Machinery Co., Ltd., Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, South China University of Technology).

In 2021, LK teamed up with Zhejiang University to establish the Joint Engineering R&D Center for Die Casting Equipment. Zhejiang University is a leader in hydraulic technology and control and home to a national laboratory in this field. Long-term cooperation between LK and Zhejiang University on die casting systems, precision control, and parameter repeatability, among others, has brought major technological breakthrough programs in Zhejiang Province to the two parties, who decided to set up a joint engineering center where they could work together on high-end intelligent die casting equipment and software development platforms to integrate intelligent systems, real-time control systems, special hydraulic components, and injection systems.

In 2022, Ningbo LK teamed up with the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University to establish the Joint Research Center for Intelligent Die Casting Equipment and Technology.

In 2019, LK took the lead in a joint research and development project with Guangdong Intelligent Robotics Institute, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, and several other enterprises and universities, under the Guangdong Provincial Key Areas Research and Development Program for the Development and Application of Green, Efficient, and Intelligent Die Casting Island System for Automotive Parts Manufacturing.

In 2008, LK teamed up with partner universities to submit the application for the Shenzhen Science and Technology Plan Shenzhen/Hong Kong Innovation Circle Project—Research and Application of Networked, Intelligent and Digital Servo Drive and Control Technology for High-Power All-Electric Injection Molding Machines (LK Group, Shenzhen University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology).

In 2013, LK signed an industry-university-research strategic cooperation agreement with Chongqing University, establishing a working contact mechanism with research teams at Chongqing University for expert exchanges and regular interaction.

In 2021, LK established the Advanced Injection Molding Research and Development Center in conjunction with Beijing University of Chemical Technology, leveraging their respective strengths to carry out R&D, innovation, and the application of advanced manufacturing technologies and processes to injection molding in automotive and healthcare, among others. Research will begin with injection molding machines, molds, and processes, with the aim of enhancing independent innovation capabilities and overall competitiveness in the manufacturing sector, as well as introducing and nurturing specialized talent to move towards high-quality development. LK was honored to participate in the Major Industry-University-Research Integration Science and Technology Project under the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology in Guangdong Province for the Research and Development of Key Technologies for Ultra-high Speed Electric Injection Molding (Zhongshan LK Machinery Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Chemical Technology). In 2005, LK developed the Project for the Development of Precision Injection Molding Machines (Zhongshan LK Machinery Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Chemical Technology).

LK donated a hot chamber die casting machine to PolyU in 1987 for teaching purposes before establishing a joint venture in 2008 to develop and produce high-precision 2-ton and 5-ton micro injection molding machines, becoming the world's first to successfully develop bottom-up high precision micro-injection molding machines capable of producing micro and nano-scale parts. In 2008, LK and PolyU’s groundbreaking bottom-up injection molding machine was crowned with the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions, Geneva.

In 2008, projects included the Guangdong Industry-University-Research Cooperation Project—Research and Development of Ultra-Miniature Injection Molding Machines (Zhongshan LK Machinery Co., Ltd., Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Shenzhen University), Shenzhen Science and Technology Plan Shenzhen/Hong Kong Innovation Circle Project Application—Research and Application of Networked, Intelligent and Digital Servo Drive and Control Technology for High-Power All-Electric Injection Molding Machines (LK Machinery (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd., Shenzhen University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology), and Shenzhen Science and Technology Application Demonstration Project—Auto Parts and Die Casting Equipment Digitization and Informationalization Application Demonstration Project (Shenzhen Leadwell Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen University).

In 2022, LK teamed up with Ningbo University to establish a high-performance intelligent casting equipment research institute and launch major scientific research projects.

In 2023, LK established the Undergraduate Teaching Practice and Postgraduate Training Base in conjunction with Northeastern University.

In 2020, LK and City University of Hong Kong developed a melt-blown fabric machine capable of producing compostable plastic fabrics to replace nonwoven fabrics and reduce the environmental impact of traditional disposable masks.

In 2022, Mr. Liu Siong Song delivered a keynote speech titled "The New Digital Age and the COVID-19 Pandemic: What Employers Look for in Graduates" in which he spoke of opportunities in the industry and encouraged the younger generation to join in.

In 2022, LK and HKPC’s mask production machine brought home medals from the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva and the MIS Industry Award 2022.
